A manifestation from his years of solitude, KURAI AURA is the pseudonym of Darlens Leveque, an avant-garde Haitian-American-Canadian fine art photographer based in Montreal.
Experimental, genre-bending, poetic, high contrast urban noir images, for Leveque his photographs serve as a map into the psyche of an introvert.
Despite the pushbacks from certain of his contemporaries against his fluid style, Leveque has recently gained some momentum within the art world. He wants his story to one day serve as an example for all the black youths who don't adhere to certain social standards. For him, not fitting into a box should be seen as a strength, not courageous.
